19661966
Intex was founded in Los Angeles. Originally, the company focused on importing and selling toys.
1970
Intex gradually expanded its operations into the production and sale of Wetset products, which quickly became popular with customers around the world.
In 1977, it introduced Snapset™ children’s pools, selling more than 68 million units.
1980
The company continued to grow and launched a number of iconic products. Among the most successful were the King Kool™ Lounge with more than 35 million units sold,
the Whale Ride-On inflatable orca, the Seahawk™ boat and the Comfort Rest Collection air mattresses.
1990
In 1996, Intex launched the Downy Air Bed, which achieved remarkable success with more than 148 million units sold.
The popularity of pools continued to grow. In 1998, the Easy Set® pool was introduced, with more than 43 million units sold, revolutionizing the above-ground pool category. A year later, it was followed by the Metal Frame pool with a sturdy metal frame.
2000
In 2002, Intex began using built-in pumps in selected products. At the same time, it introduced new products such as the Beanless Bag inflatable seat, the River Run® tube and the Mariner™ boat.
2010
In 2013, Intex introduced Fiber-Tech™ technology, which became the foundation of its air beds and PureSpa™ hot tubs.
In the following years, it launched more successful products, including the PremAire® air mattress, Prism Frame™ pools and the Excursion Pro™ kayak.
2020
The company’s portfolio continued to expand with swings, AquaQuest® paddleboards, SimpleSpa hot tubs and TrueAire air mattresses.
2026
Intex is celebrating 60 years since its founding. It employs more than 14,000 people, and its products are available in more than 100 countries around the world.

In 1966, a small California company began by importing and selling toys for children. Over the decades, the company grew into the global group known as INTEX®, which today develops and manufactures a wide range of products for the whole family. INTEX products are now available in more than 100 countries around the world. What started with toys gradually evolved into a diverse portfolio of products for leisure, relaxation and adventure, including Above Ground Pools, Spas, Air Mattresses, Air Furniture, and many other products. Each one was created with an emphasis on quality, affordability and the joy of spending time together. Over its 60-year history, INTEX has become part of millions of households around the world. Yet its mission remains the same: to create products that bring families together, inspire shared experiences and turn ordinary moments into unforgettable memories.
